todd snyder art of pride watch

The Todd Snyder Pride watch is based on the Pakter Krauss designed Color Flicks range that was originally created in 1977.

Using archive.org’s wayback machine, the original listing for this watch was:

Exclusive Timex + Todd Snyder Pride Watch

The latest collaboration is both a sleek, modern timepiece and a throwback to the era when the Gay Rights Movement adopted artist Gilbert Baker’s Rainbow Flag as its banner.  Like a color wheel in which three primary colors (red, blue and yellow) mix to create an array of different shades, the Pride watch is composed of three rotating colored discs. As the time changes and the discs interact, the wearer can look through the crystal and literally see the shades change. A stainless steel case and a braided fabric strap complete the look.

It seemed the perfect watch to celebrate Pride because love comes in all colors of the rainbow and in all different orientations. “I had been doing research in the Timex archive and when I saw this watch from the Seventies with the multi-colored disks, I wanted to refresh it and make it a celebration of Pride,” says Snyder. “Pride is obviously about love and inclusiveness, and the different colors of the watch embody that.”

In partnership with Timex, we(Todd Snyder) will be donating $10,000 from the sales of the limited “Art of Pride” watch to be split between the Sylvia Rivera Law Project and Rainbow Railroad Foundation.
