1950’s Timex Watches

The 1950’s are arguably my favourite period of Timex watches. No only did Timex make several improvements to their technology but popular models like Marlin, Sprite and Viscount were created.

Technology

1950’s Timex moved from the m21 movement to the m22 movement. This made movements easier to fix. In the late 1950’s the M22 was modified to create Timex’s first chronograph watch, the Southampton.

Cases became wider and thinner bringing watches in line with a more contemporary sense of style.

1950s Favorites

My #1 timex came from the late 1950s. The Viscount, model 4017 featured a chunky case, and stamped diall detail.

The Southampton chronograph watch is another favourite due to its rareness.
