Timex themselves have stated that the origin of the MK1 Timex lies with the military watch produced in limited numbers in 1982. Re-released in 2016, the Timex MK1 continued the use of a light weight plastic case but replaced the manual wound caliber with a quartz mechanism. The MK1 was improved upon the following year with a light weight aluminium case.
