The Timex Quartron is a prototype watch created in the early stages of the quartz crisis, a period when cheap high accuracy quartz movements were being introduced much to the dismay of mechanical watch manufacturers.
Notable cllectors Jewsey Mo and Paul Schumacker suggest that this piece was created by manufacturers Laco/Durowe as they were being acquired by Timex in the 1960’s.
It contains the start of an upgraded electic movement that was never finalised and put into production.

The red tab holds the setting mechanism out one stop so the battery does not run down while the watch is being displayed.
